How to ensure greater safety for seniors, hospital patients or social service clients? The answer can be modern sensory technologies that can monitor health, movement and unusual situations in real time. At the URBIS trade fair, the Brno-based company iContio presented the SensCare ecosystem, which connects smart sensors, digitization and, now, also artificial intelligence.
This year, iContio is celebrating twenty years since its foundation. Originally a software company, it gradually developed into a technology company, which, in addition to digitization solutions, also develops its own assistive healthcare systems and social services. “Today we offer a unique SensCare platform, which can be connected to many different types of sensors depending on what the client needs to monitor. It can be about physiological values, such as pharmaceuticals, pressure, temperature or blood saturation, but also about information from the surrounding environment, for example, movement in the room, presence on the bed or safety sensors, or about the person where the person is, and even can communicate with the smart bracelet by voice, similar to the phone ” explains the founder and Commander of the company Emil Vařeka. It is the combination of this data that makes it possible to better protect the elderly in the home environment, clients of social services and patients in hospitals. Technologies can be notified on non-standard situations and helping the staff and the family to react faster and more efficiently.
iContio is also one of the companies involved in the BVV Living Lab project, which connects technology companies, universities, public administration and startups. “Living Lab makes sense to us for several reasons. On the one hand, thanks to the connection with other innovative companies and at the same time because we need to verify new technologies in a real environment. It is is the role of a living laboratory,says Emil Vařeka. The company even moved part of its activities directly to the area of the Brno exhibition center, where it is based together with other members of the innovation ecosystem.
In addition to the BVV Living Lab, there is also a icontio involved in the Life Sciences 4.0 cluster, which brings together companies in the field of healthcare technology, telemedicine, pharmaceutical industry and research organizations. Thanks to cooperation with universities, professional workplaces and other innovative companies, an environment is created in which new ideas are transformed faster into specific products and services. “Our customers are the biggest source of inspiration for us. They are constantly coming up with new requirements, and it is thanks to them that we continuously improve our products,” says Emil Vařeka.
Society sees a great opportunity in the further development of artificial intelligence. It should be the next evolutionary phase of the SensCare system. “We are working on using artificial intelligence to evaluate data from sensors. It’s not just about tracking the set limits, but about the ability to recognize changes in behavior patterns and alert you to a potential problem even before a crisis situation arises,” describes Emil Vařeka.
Icontio perceives participation in the URBIS fair not only as an opportunity to present its technologies, but also as an effective place for meeting partners from the entire republic. “Urbis is primarily a meeting place for us. Over the course of two days, we will meet dozens of partners, customers and people, with whom we would otherwise have to travel around the entire republic. This is a huge value that no online meeting can replace,” concludes Emil Vařeka.
Technology itself will not save life. But they can help recognize the problem in time, alert you to it and give people more time to react. And that’s the path he’s taking on the icontio.
